Father's Day 2008

Ah Boi says:

Today, being Father's Day, we went out for dinner together!
Dad was particularly impressed with the buffet at Grand Plaza Royal Hotel at Coleman Street during their last visit, so we decided to bring him there for dinner.

The area was pleasant, with dim lighting that is just right and a cosy feeling.
It didn't take me long to know why Dad liked the buffet so much...the food was absolutely great!
I shall let the pictures do the talking!

Starting from the oysters (clockwise direction), that's Tako (octopus), Salmon and Tuna sashimi, Foie Gras Pate in a light pastry.

We started off with Mom's favourite..Sashimi and Oysters!

Dearie also had cold prawns, potato salad and some salmon in a bowl appetizer...

Whereas I moved on to hot food.

We then shared a bowl of "Buddha Jumps Over The Wall"...

And we had meat after that.
The roast beef was totally tender and cooked to perfection..just the way I like it.
However, I liked the leg of lamb (not shown in pictures) better.

After all that meat, we decided to have something soupy.
I didn't particularly like the drunken prawns though. I felt that they could have been more generous with the brandy. However, the prawns were so fresh and crunchy that I couldn't help but finish it all.
The chicken consomme I didn't really enjoy, because I realised that it was quail's eggs which they were using. According to my religion, we cannot consume quail eggs as we frequently release these birds (for Karma purposes). Dearie thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Eggplant and Mushroom Lasagna

I wasn't particularly full yet, so I had a helping of Eggplant and Mushroom Lasagna. Not the best I've had but it was still good.

Anyway, we had chocolate pralines, Tiramisu, Blueberry cake, Bread & Butter pudding (with luscious vanilla sauce!), Mango Pudding and Marble Cheesecake. Dearie had an extra helping of chocolate coated fruits from the fondue section, but she said the fondue was a tad too watery.
By then, we were too full to move..so we sipped on wine and continued to be merry.

We really enjoyed the night and the service there was impeccable.

After dinner, Brother, Dearie and I decided to go to the PC show.
We ended up buying two LCD television sets..a Full HD 40" LCD television and a HD Ready 32" LCD television!
Kinda excited right now...because I can't wait to use the Bluray player (which came free with the 40" TV) and watch Hi Def movies on the 40" television! Such bliss!!

We are unbreakable.... ,
